WynnBet launches mobile sports betting app in Indiana

WynnBet has launched its mobile sports betting app in Indiana, its fourth market launch in the past four months.

WynnBet is the online gaming division of Wynn Resorts. Headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey, WynnBet has launched mobile sports betting in New Jersey, Colorado, Michigan, Virginia and now the Hoosier State.

WynnBet’s sports betting presence in Indiana comes through a market access agreement with Full House Resorts and Rising Star Casino Resort.

Online wagering accounted for 88%, or $241m, of Indiana’s February handle of $274m.

WynnBet will look to take market share from Indiana leaders DraftKings and FanDuel, who recorded February handle of $107m and $71m, respectively.

Counting WynnBet, there are now a total of 11 mobile sports betting operators in Indiana, making it one of the most saturated and competitive states. There are signs of caution that Indiana’s growth may not be sustainable. February’s handle was down 21% from January.

The growth of neighboring Illinois’ mobile sports betting market may have contributed to the drop.

March was expected to be a significant month for Indiana sportsbooks with the state exclusively hosting the men’s NCAA Tournament.

By launching Thursday, WynnBet will be live in time for this weekend’s Final Four semifinals, which take place in Indianapolis.
