Penn National Gaming has secured approval from the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) to offer online sports wagering in the state.
The operator says it plans to launch its Barstool Sportsbook mobile app on 11 March 2021.
Penn National also expects to offer a number of promotional bets during the launch, including odds boosts on the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox to win the 2021 Major League Baseball World Series. Also included is a $1,000 risk-free bet after an initial deposit, as well as a range of wagering options related to the upcoming March Madness college basketball tournament.
“We are extremely excited to launch our online Barstool Sportsbook in Illinois just as the college basketball regular season wraps up and bettors begin their preparations for March Madness,” said Penn National president and CEO Jay Snowden.
“On behalf of the Penn Interactive team and our partners at Barstool Sports, I want to thank the IGB for their approval of our online sports betting application.”
The Barstool Sportsbook brand is also live online in Michigan and Pennsylvania, with Penn National aiming to expand its reach to ten states by the end of 2021.
“Alongside our risk management and platform providers, Kambi and White Hat Gaming, we have developed an online sports betting app which is attracting new and existing Penn National customers as evidenced by our performance to-date in Michigan and Pennsylvania,” added Snowden.
“We are eager to leverage the building momentum for the Barstool Sportsbook app with our launch in Illinois and the additional launches we have planned for 2021.”
