Mandalay Bay hosting 15th annual Salute to the Troops celebration
As part of a collaboration formed between MGM Resorts, the USO and American Airlines, honored service members and their families will be flown to Las Vegas for the five-day event.
MGM Resorts International and its Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino property in Las Vegas will host the 15th annual United Service Organizations (USO) Experience, Salute to the Troops, as part of a five-day celebration beginning on November 14.
Through a collaboration formed between MGM Resorts, the USO and American Airlines, over 100 active-duty service members who have been injured in the line of duty and their families will be flown to Las Vegas for the celebration, as MGM Resorts will also provide all required amenities.
“Salute to the Troops is one of the most meaningful traditions we share at MGM Resorts,” MGM Resorts SVP of Global Security & Aviation John Flynn said.
“It’s a privilege to welcome these brave men and women and their families to Las Vegas and express our gratitude in a way that reflects our company’s values.”
MGM Resorts team members, community partners and local supporters will also form a “Wall of Gratitude” for the active-duty service members, with hundreds of people lining up to cheer on and thank the honored guests.
Salute to the Troops will offer a range of activities throughout the five-day span, including a welcome dinner, tours of the Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon, visiting Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef Aquarium, the Blue Man Group and more.
On October 28, MGM Resorts President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle committed to help support the Nevada Campaign for Kids initiative along with his wife, Wendy, in an effort to bring the first-ever stand-alone children’s hospital to Southern Nevada.
Bill and Wendy Hornbuckle were named as Co-Chairs of the campaign, which is organized through the Intermountain Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Intermountain Healthcare, and hopes to raise funds for the $1bn facility expected to break ground in 2026.
