Brazilian Sports Ministry holds workshop on integrity in sports betting
The workshop was held with the International Betting Integrity Association.
The Ministry of Sports, through its Secretary for Sports Betting and Economic Development (SNAEDE), held the workshop “Protecting Sports Betting: Integrity in Action” to advance the government’s strategy against match-fixing and corruption in the betting market.
The session was organized in partnership with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), a global non-profit organization that monitors integrity breaches and supports governments in regulating licensed betting.
During the event, the IBIA experts presented how the organization tracks suspicious betting activity and how it compiles integrity reports used by regulators and sports federations around the world.
The session also discussed trends in betting integrity in Brazil and abroad, reinforcing the need for international cooperation.
Giovanni Rocco, Brazil’s National Secretary for Sports Betting and Economic Development, said the workshop represents a milestone in the country’s integrity agenda.
“We trained our entire team and the Ministry of Finance’s integrity division with IBIA. This shared construction and exchange of knowledge are crucial to addressing the problem in practice”, he stated.
“Minister André Fufuca gave us this mission, and we are fulfilling it with dedication.”
The initiative follows the cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Sports and IBIA in May 2025, which aims to align Brazil with international standards for integrity and strengthen the monitoring of betting-related fraud.
According to Denise Nóbrega, Director of Sports Betting Integrity at SNAEDE, “Integrity in sports is a non-negotiable pillar that must be protected. This event reinforces our commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring a safe and transparent betting environment.”
