International Gaming Technology has announced its PlaySports platform for retail and online sports betting has received necessary Nevada regulatory approval, which will allow the company to deploy the technology throughout the state.

IGT partnered its PlaySports platform with Boyd Gaming properties in August 2020 and has since passed the required Nevada field trial process, the company said. IGT now powers Boyd Gaming’s entire Nevada sports betting operations.

“Achieving Nevada Regulatory Approval for our PlaySports technology enables IGT to extend our sports betting expertise to our many, long-time customers throughout the State and notably differentiates IGT from many other B2B sports betting platform providers,” said Enrico Drago, IGT PlayDigital Senior Vice President. “IGT’s PlaySports platform is equipped with a high-performance betting engine that delivers an exceptional player experience, an integrated Player Account Management module that enables operators to drive player acquisition and retention through bespoke offers and promotions, and a modular design that enables our PlaySports customers to scale their offering with new market opportunities.”

PlaySports is now live in 16 states with over 40 locations, including 10 in Nevada. Among PlaySports’ highlights are the platform’s compact size, its ability to be placed anywhere on a casino floor and its cost effectiveness for smaller casinos.

Earlier this week IGT reported 2020 operating loss of $107m, compared to operating income of $478m in 2019. The company saw revenue drop to $3.12bn in 2020 versus $4.03 the year prior.
