San Manuel Investment Authority acquires full ownership of Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort

The Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation announced that the San Manuel Investment Authority (SMIA) has acquired full ownership of the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club in Dana Point, California, through its affiliated entities.
The acquisition marks a strategic expansion of the Tribe’s luxury destination portfolio beyond gaming operations. The property, a consistent recipient of the AAA Five-Diamond Award and Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Award, includes the resort and Monarch Beach Golf Links, a par-70 championship course.
Lynn Valbuena, Chairwoman of the Tribe and its investment board, stated: “This beautiful destination resort is the perfect complement to the Tribe’s investment portfolio and fits well with our long-term investment and diversification strategy.
“Since 2023, following the acquisition of a partial ownership interest in Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach by a SMIA affiliated entity, our Yaamava’ and Palms guests have enjoyed the warm hospitality and the oceanside views offered by Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, and the Monarch Beach Golf Links.”

Hilton will continue to manage resort operations, while Troon will maintain management of the golf course, ensuring operational continuity and service standards.
The property features 400 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining venues, a spa and salon, three pools, exclusive beach club access, a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf course, and 120,000 square feet of event space.
