The Michigan Gaming Control Board has released Detroit’s gaming revenue figures for September, and showed its support for the State’s FY26 budget, which prioritzes the health of citizens.

In total, gaming revenue in Detroit in September came to $98.9m, down 3% year-over-year and 7.1% month-over-month. Of this, $98.2m came from table games and slots, while $747,425 came from retail sports betting.
In table and slot earnings, MGM Grand Detroit made $45.9m, accounting for 47% of the state total, down 3.8% year-over-year. MotorCity Casino made $28.9m, accounting for 30% of the state total, down 7.2%. Hollywood Casino at Greektown bucked the trend, up 4.5% year-over-year, making $23.4m, or 23% of the state total. In total, the three paid $80m in state gaming taxes, down $0.2m from this time last year, with $16.1m submitted in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.

Looking to retail sports betting revenue, and MotorCity Casino reported the highest earnings at $589.142, while MGM Grand Detroit made $394,500. Hollywood Casino at Greektown, meanwhile, reported a loss, with -$236,217 in earnings.
Retail sports betting handle totaled $13.5m, with revenue of $775,903. This reflects a drop of 1.1% year-over-year and 39.8% month-over-month.
FY26 State budget support
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams issued a statement expressing support for the State’s FY26 budget. In it, Williams said, “The Michigan Gaming Control Board commends Governor Whitmer and the Legislature for enacting a responsible, forward-looking state budget that prioritizes the safety and well-being of our citizens…
“We remain steadfast in our mission to safeguard consumers, combat illegal gaming and collaborate with law enforcement and industry partners to maintain fair and secure gambling environments statewide. The investments made through this budget will allow us to continue serving Michigan with transparency, accountability and vigilance.”
