Key Points
- The six pillars feature guidelines such as education, informed choice & harm prevention, risk detection & intervention, support, treatment & recovery and more
- The RG3P framework is meant to “complement, not compete with” RG efforts currently in place on a global scale while helping existing groups scale for greater impact
The Brain Capital Alliance, in partnership with G7/G20, the United Nations and World Economic Forum, has introduced the Better Gambling Forum as well as its Responsible Gambling Practice and Policy Pillars (RG3P) framework.
The RG3P framework is meant to “complement, not compete with” RG efforts currently in place on a global scale while helping existing groups scale for greater impact, as all research conducted by the Forum is overseen by an independent Scientific Oversight Committee.
“This initiative, a response to the growing need for coordinated, evidence-based responses to gambling-related harm, aims to future-proof gambling and public health policy by identifying and elevating scalable, evidence-informed practices,” Better Gambling Forum Steering Committee Chair Shawn Fluharty said.
The release of Better Gambling Forum’s six core pillars was said to represent a “major step” toward creating a unified and evidence-based approach to player and harm protection.
The six pillars include education, informed choice & harm prevention, risk detection & intervention, support, treatment & recovery, gambling environment, product & marketing, ethical industry practices & accountability and research, evaluation & sustainable funding.

“Our mission is to create a practical, comprehensive framework that can be adopted across jurisdictions to strengthen existing player protection measures,” Better Gambling Forum Member Kevin Winters said.
“By focusing on these six pillars, we can provide a clear and actionable path forward that puts public and brain health first.”
The RG3P framework provides a responsible gambling guide for policymakers, regulators and public health experts to help address gambling-related harm through a “brain health and public health lens.”
