The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has reported the state’s sports wagering activity throughout August 2025, as North Carolina bettors wagered nearly $478.7m in total handle, representing an increase of 29.2% from the prior year period.
Sports betting operators currently conducting business in North Carolina were reported to have submitted over $9.7m in combined estimated tax proceeds for August 2025, as well as paid $420.6m in winnings to bettors across the state.

Gross wagering revenue for operators was reported to be $54.1m by the North Carolina State Lottery Commission, equating to an increase of 60.3% year-over-year.
Nearly $4m in wagers were either cancelled or voided prior to a result being declared, however, while $14.8m of the total handle generated for August 2025 was produced through promotional wagering.
