Operators channel BR 773.9m to Brazilian sports and Government in H1 2025

Brazil’s Ministry of Sport received BRL478.9m from regulated betting operators in the first six months of 2025, according to official data released from the national Secretary of Prizes and Betting.
The figure represents the largest transfer yet from the sector and corresponds to 12% of gross gaming revenue as established by federal law.
Across the same period, total transfers to national Sports Entities and Government bodies reached BRL773.9m.
Within this amount, the National Sports System collected BR154.9m, while the Brazilian Olympic Committee received BR47.5m. Operators reported overall revenues of BR17.4bn between January and June.
SPA, which oversees the regulated market under the Ministry of Finance, confirmed that distributions were monitored via its dedicated betting management platform.
Officials also noted that the procedures are being strengthened to ensure compliance and accuracy in reported transfers.

This is the first full year of regulated fixed-odds betting in Brazil, following rules passed in late 2023 and implemented in 2024. Regulated betting began at the start of 2025.
The Government collected BR3.8bn in gambling-related taxes during the first half of 2025 and the Senate is currently proposing retroactively taxing operators that acted before the market was regulated.
The Federal Government has already announced adjustments to the sector’s tax framework as the levy on operator revenues will increase from 12% to 18%, with the additional funds set for sport and social security.
