The NBA and FanDuel are re-introducing NBA InPlay, a free-to-play game that uses Simplebet’s micro-betting technology to allow fans to predict in-play occurrences.

NBA InPlay was originally created as real-time fantasy game between. The revamped version allows fans to partake in a free-to-play live betting contest.

“We are excited to be working with FanDuel and Simplebet to innovate together around the future of in-play betting for the NBA,” said Scott Kaufman-Ross, Senior Vice President, Head of Fantasy & Gaming, NBA. “NBA InPlay was built around engaging fans in real-time, and with the accelerated roll out of sports betting across the country, this is a natural evolution of the product.”

Players are awarded 2,000 tokens at the start of each quarter and can then wager 100 tokes at a time on in-play predictions. Using Simplebet technology, odds change in real time.

Simplebet and FanDuel operate a similar game for the NFL season called FanDuel PlayAction.

“We’re thrilled to expand our offering into the NBA and power the InPlay game with our groundbreaking technology that will turn possessions throughout the course of the game into betting opportunities,” said Chris Bevilacqua, Co-Founder and CEO of Simplebet. “Micro-Markets have proven to boost fan engagement and drive longer watch times, and the sport’s popularity across the globe presents an exciting pathway for the evolution of in-play betting.”

Players who finish among the top competitors in any quarter will be rewarded with prizes.

NBA InPlay is part of a broad partnership between FanDuel and the NBA. The league originally partnered with FanDuel in 2014 and has since named the daily fantasy and sports betting company an Authorized Gaming Operator.
