The Michigan Gaming Control Board has approved Four Winds Casinos Resorts and Hotel and its platform provider, Pala Interactive, to launch online gaming and sports betting.

Four Winds consists of three casinos operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. Four Winds and its provider Pala become the 11th operator to offer both online gaming and sports betting.

Pala Interactive is a social gaming B2B platform based in Irvine, Calif.

“We welcome the addition of Four Winds Casinos and Pala Interactive to Michigan's growing online gaming and sports wagering market,” Richard Kalm, MGCB's executive director, said. “Their participation will generate revenue to support education, economic development and the Pokagon Band's tribal community.”

The Four Winds brand spans a trio of casinos, all in the western portion of the state near Lake Michigan.

Michigan launched online gaming and sports betting on Jan. 22. The MGCB is expected to release January figures as soon as this week, according to The Detroit News.

Sports betting operators in Michigan were poised to capitalize off the Super Bowl as well as the emerging college basketball and NBA seasons.

Though Four Winds and Pala missed out on the Super Bowl rush, they will have weeks to prepare for the NCAA Tournament next month. The University of Michigan Wolverines are one of the top ranked teams in college basketball and their success should propel March Madness wagers, especially if they are to make the Final Four.
