Former Allwyn North America exec named as TLC Managing Director, CEO

The Lottery Corporation (TLC) has named former Allwyn North America CEO Wayne Pickup as its new Managing Director and CEO.
He will assume the role in November 2025, following Sue van der Merwe’s retirement, which was announced in March.
For this position, Pickup will be based in Brisbane, Australia.
Prior to joining The Lottery Corporation, Pickup served as the Allwyn’s North America CEO for more than seven years.
“I am honored by the appointment and excited to join The Lottery Corporation at such a pivotal time,” Pickup said. “The Australian lottery market has tremendous potential for innovation and growth, and I look forward to working with the talented team at The Lottery Corporation.”
Lottery Corporation Chairman Dr. Doug McTaggart said, “Wayne is a proven leader with a strong track record and deep understanding of lotteries developed over many years in the industry.
“Having held senior roles in technology, product development and game management, Wayne brings a diverse skill set and understanding of high-performing lotteries businesses. He is a high-caliber appointment who takes over from Sue at an exciting time for The Lottery Corporation, its shareholders and its customers.”
McTaggart also expressed his appreciation for van der Merwe and her 35 years of service in the industry.
He said in closing, “I want to pay tribute to Sue for her long and successful career in lotteries, including leading TLC over the past three years.
“Her deep experience and expertise have helped TLC to become the leading operator of lottery and Keno games in Australia.”
