Slot machine modernization tender advances in Buenos Aires casinos

Key Points
- The tender includes a 20-year concession period with an option for a one-year extension
- Bids were submitted for four casinos, while three locations received no offers
- Alternative solutions will be explored to modernize the vacant venues
The bidding process for the control and modernization of slot machines in seven casinos across Buenos Aires Province has reached a key milestone with the public opening of bids.
After two major international competitors, Codere and Enjoy, withdrew from the tender process in May, the Director of Legal Affairs, Sebastián Silvestre, led the opening ceremony for new bids. This was related to the provision and maintenance of electronic gaming machines and their control systems.
He was accompanied by Claudia Alejandra Defelito, Assistant Notary of the General Government Notary Office, as they jointly presided over the proceedings concerning the remodeling, construction, transfer and enhancement of gaming halls throughout the province.
The tender process includes a concession period of 20 years, with an option for a one-year extension.
The event was also attended by Juan Vernengo, Provincial Director of Racetracks and Casinos; Fernando Mogni, Director of Casinos Zone 1; Marcos Labrador, President of the Casino Employees Association (AECN); and Aníbal Settino, Deputy Secretary of the Union of Casino Administration, Maintenance and Service Workers (AMS).
Good to know: Six of the seven gaming halls are currently operating under a permit extended until December 31 2025
Proposals were received for the casinos in Hermitage, Sasso, Miramar and Tandil; however, no bids were submitted for the venues in Sierra de la Ventana, Mar de Ajó and Necochea. For these locations, alternative approaches will be considered to advance their modernization while safeguarding existing employment.
The envelopes containing the various technical and financial proposals will be sent to the Pre-Award Committee for comprehensive evaluation and review. This process follows the established steps of the public tender for transparency.
