Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF) has officially launched a public consultation to improve the mechanism behind the allocation of funds generated from fixed-odds wagering throughout the country.
According to the country’s laws, the allocations are divided into three blocks, of which two will be the object of consultation for residents. The first is formed by the allocations to private entities and civil society entities while the second is provided for entities of the National Sports System.
Entities include sports organizations and athletes, as a counterpart to the use of denominations, sports nicknames, images, brands, emblems, anthems and symbols.
The consultation is being made through the Participa + Brasil portal and will be open for 45 days, as the mechanism is reportedly similar to the one used in the construction of SPA-MF’s 2025-26 Regulatory Agenda.
Good to know: Brazil’s Ministry of Finance authorized two new operators to explore fixed-odds betting in the country on June 23, expanding the list of licensed companies under the nation’s formal gambling framework
The third allocation, not involved in the public consultation at the time of writing, provides legal allocations to the aforementioned public entities.
SPA-MF’s action is part of the fulfillment listed in the 2025-2025 Regulatory Agenda and foreseen as a regulatory evolution in Ordinance 41/2025.
