Hyatt joins the Avenir casino project in NYC

The Destination by Hyatt brand will operate the luxury hotel planned for The Avenir.

The developers behind The Avenir, a proposed mixed-use casino and entertainment complex on Manhattan’s Far West Side, have announced Hyatt as the hospitality partner for the project. The hotel will operate under the Destination by Hyatt brand and include 1,000 rooms and suites.

The brand selection is part of a strategy to become part of the city’s convention economy, with the developers considering Hyatt’s proven track record in similar locations like Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago.

In total, nearly 5,000 union hospitality and gaming jobs are expected if the project is approved. Hyatt’s involvement includes partnerships with major culinary groups like Union Square Hospitality Group and Starr Restaurants.

The Avenir’s operators also emphasized their relationships with local unions, particularly the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, which represents over 40,000 hospitality workers in NYC and Northern New Jersey.

The development remains contingent on being awarded a casino license from New York State. If selected, The Avenir wants to create significant economic impact through tourism, employment and private investment.

The hotel will feature floor-to-ceiling skyline views, luxury finishes, and access to amenities ranging from restaurants and wellness services to curated cultural programming.
