The Tennessee Sports Wagering Council (SWC) has reported the state’s betting activity for the month of May 2025, with operators having generated an adjusted handle of $437.5m, representing a 15.4% increase from the prior year period.
Privilege tax assessed to each of the sports betting operators currently conducting business throughout the state was reported to be nearly $8.1m by the Tennessee SWC.
The tax assessment also equates to an increase of 15.4% year-over-year, which the Council splits between the Lottery for Education program, the state’s general fund and gambling disorder and addiction programs.
While the handle generated throughout May 2025 represents an increase year-over-year, the figure also showcases a decrease of 5.6% month-over-month. Handle during April 2025 nearly eclipsed the $463.6m mark, while privilege tax was reported to be $8.6m for the period.
