Brazilian influencer arrested after two months on the run from gambling investigation

Emilly Souza, a Brazilian influencer known for widely promoting Fortune Tiger, or “Jogo do Tigrinho,” was arrested in Cuiabá, where she had been hiding in her mother’s home.

Souza had been on the run for two months and was among the targets of an operation that investigates suspected crimes including fraud, illegal gambling, and money laundering.

With over 90,000 followers, Souza shared content showcasing a lifestyle of luxury and travel, with a lot of photos in different countries around the world. Police allege she used this image to promote illegal gambling games under the appearance of easy wins and profits.

The investigation claims that influencers like Souza misled followers by creating fake betting accounts and recording scripted wins in casino-style platforms. These videos were then shared on social media to attract new users. According to police, the operation used mechanisms programmed to appear winnable.

Authorities have stated that those involved earned money either through direct payment from platforms, commissions per bet, or referral bonuses for bringing in new users. The wider scheme has reportedly moved millions of reais in recent years.

In total, the operation led to 13 arrest warrants, 17 search and seizure orders, and 15 asset freezing measures.
