Massachusetts gaming generates $168.1m of revenue for April 2025

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has reported the state’s total gaming revenue for April 2025, combining casino wagering and sports wagering throughout the month for a total of $168.1m, equating to an increase of 14.6% from the prior year period.
The figure includes $65.9m of gross gaming revenue (GGR) generated by sports betting, growing 34.2% year-over-year and primarily driven by online sports wagering, which accounted for $65.5m.
While online sports wagering increased its April GGR by 32.6% from the prior year period, retail wagering managed to also grow its GGR year-over-year by $600,000 from the negative $256.6k produced for April 2024.
The total sports wagering handle for April 2025 was reported to be nearly $690.3m, equating to an increase of 14.4% from the prior year period and resulting in a revenue hold percentage of 9.8% for operators.
DraftKings led the way in GGR by a wide margin throughout April 2025, accounting for almost $37.8m of the total revenue reported from operators, with FanDuel taking the runner-up position with $17.9m of revenue generated for the month.

BetMGM was able to produce the third-highest GGR of any operator for April 2025, generating $3.9m while Fanatics accounted for an additional $3.1m and ESPN Bet achieved $1.8m of GGR.
Slot GGR was the primary driver of revenue for the state throughout April 2025, reporting just over $71.1m for an increase of 8% year-over-year. Table games were the only gaming type to report a decrease in GGR from the prior year period, falling by just 2% for a total of $31m for the period.
Encore Boston Harbor managed to produce the most revenue of any property located in Massachusetts, generating nearly $63.5m of GGR for an increase of 4.2% year-over-year. MGM Springfield accounted for an additional $23.5m of GGR while Plainridge Park Casino generated $15.1m, equating to increases of 3.4% and 9.2%, respectively, from the prior year period.
