Flutter expresses interest in a US prediction market launch

However, the CEO did not confirm any concrete plans.
Key Points
- Flutter CEO Peter Jackson said the company is “closely monitoring developments around futures markets”
- Galactic CEO Stuart Stott said new players and innovation are welcome during an exclusive interview with Gambling Insider
During a Q1 Earnings Conference Call, Flutter CEO Peter Jackson recently mentioned the company is looking at futures markets and monitoring their development, a move that could mean the company’s potential entry into the US prediction market.
“We are really excited about our revolutionary outcome-based pricing technology that allows us to price an offer and an almost infinite amount of outcomes across the most relevant and immersive betting markets,” Jackson said during the call. “We are also closely monitoring developments around futures markets and the potential for direct and indirect opportunities for FanDuel to explore.”
Flutter has not officially confirmed its intentions to launch within the US prediction market. However, Jackson said at the end of the call, “We’re interested in the potential opportunity and we have brought some of our team who have some experience in building these products and services from the Betfair exchange to help us evaluate these opportunities.
“We’re working through it. Clearly, in states that haven’t regulated… it’s not that dissimilar to the DFS stuff, albeit it, it’s worth remembering that DFS is a really good precursor to the parlay products, while prediction markets aren’t quite so limited.”
Prediction betting has gained some traction since the 2024 US presidential election.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) recently requested authorization to settle its legal dispute with Kalshi. The agency filed the request with the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
However, the CFTC did not elaborate on its reasons for possible case dismissal. If the settlement is approved, this could springboard growth in political prediction markets.
In an exclusive interview with Gambling Insider, Galactic CEO Stuart Stott shared his thoughts on a potential Flutter launch.
He said, “We welcome new players and innovation in what is a rapidly growing and dynamic space. As pioneers in the prediction market industry, we’re excited to see the increased momentum and attention this sector is receiving. More entrants mean more creativity, more awareness, and ultimately, a stronger ecosystem that benefits players, fans, and innovators alike.
“We look forward to seeing how the market evolves and to continuing to lead with cutting-edge technology, transparency, and an unwavering focus on delivering exciting, next-generation prediction experiences.”
