Boring is completing an underground tunnel running from the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center to the soon-to-open Resorts World on the Strip’s north end.
The Resorts World station will be below ground, while the convention center station will be above ground. Boring is also in the process of developing another tunnel that would run from the convention center to the Encore property.
Eventually Boring wants the loop to connect to several Caesars Entertainment properties as well as McCarran International Airport and Allegiant Stadium, where the Las Vegas Raiders play.
“The project will provide the quick, environmentally friendly and efficient movement of people within Clark County and its surroundings without disrupting activities occurring above the ground,” Boring said in a December 2020 justification letter submitted to the County.
Musk, who is best known for founding Tesla and SpaceX, visited the Vegas Loop tunnel in late January. The initial Vegas Loop between the convention center and Resorts World will autonomously transport passengers in Tesla vehicles across two twin one-mile tunnels.
