The New York Gaming Commission (NYGC) has filed a Request for Proposals for a consulting firm to organize the community engagement portion of the state’s casino bidding process, including the adaptation of Community Advisory Committees.
According to the request, consultants “will assist and manage the community advisory committee process and provide administrative support and technical assistance for the establishment of activities.”
The request seeks a firm that will “provide organizational, technical, logistical and administrative support to each Community Advisory Committee while ensuring each operates in compliance with laws and regulations.”
The bidder would be expected to organize up to 10 separate Community Advisory Committees in a contract that starts at the end of June and terminates a year later, well after the gaming licenses are expected to be awarded during 2025.

Each Community Advisory Committee, whose members are appointed by local electeds such as the Mayor, Governor and relevant borough President, will vote on the project in their given area.
The request is said to represent a significant milestone in New York’s casino bidding process, as local unions have also begun to show support for the Freedom Plaza project which is expected to be placed in Manhattan.
