The Illinois Gaming Board has released its sports wagering results for the month of January. Last month, the state reported a nearly $1.53bn sports betting handle, topping a watermark total posted in December.
January’s total handle represents wagers that were placed on professional sports, college sports and other events during the month.
This is one of the highest Illinois has reported since opening its market.
January’s handle blew past the previous high of $1.4bn that the state reported in November 2023 and the $1.5bn handle posted in December 2024.
Casino Queen accepted more than $105m in tier 1 bets and $318m in tier 2 bets online during January, earning it the top spot for the month.
Fairmount Park took in the second largest online handle for professional sports during the month, accepting $208m in tier 1 wagers and $207m in tier 2 wagers.
Bets placed on college sports during January accounted for nearly $247.1m of the total Illinois handle.
Illinois also recently released its casino revenue results from last month. During the month of February, the state posted $141.3m in adjusted gross receipts.
Slot machines generated a total of $108.3m in February revenue, while table games contributed nearly $32.9m to last month’s combined total.
Hard Rock Casino Rockford's permanent destination, which opened to the public at the end of August, reported its sixth full month’s results.
Last month, the destination generated $11.1m in revenue, a slight dip when compared to what the casino posted during the previous month.
Other December heavy hitters included Hard Rock Casino Rockford and Bally’s Chicago, which is currently operating as a temporary casino until the company completes its permanent location.
