Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG) has signed a partnership with Scientific Games as the operator launches online casino and sports betting in Michigan.

The deal will help support GNOG’s launch in Michigan, with Scientific Games providing its in-house gaming content and game features, along with customized branded games for Golden Nugget’s online casino in the state which is available to players via Goldennuggetcasino.com.

Alongside the casino content, players in Michigan are now able to bet on sports online for the first time through the supplier’s OpenSports platform. While within the next few weeks, GNOG will introduce the platform in New Jersey further strengthening the operator’s entry into the US online sports betting market.

Last week, GNOG announced it was launching its online casino and sportsbook in Michigan from 22 January, after the vertical was legalized in the state. Nine operators were authorized by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) to begin offering online sport wagering on the day of 22 January, including DraftKings, William Hill and FanDuel, with PointsBet also launching since.

GNOG president Thomas Winter said: “Entering the Michigan market is a major step forward for our business. As part of our expansion across the sports betting market, we understand the importance of sharpening our functions across all US sports and casino and that’s why we’ve partnered with Scientific Games.”

Cathryn Lai, SVP and general manager, Digital at Scientific Games, added: “Expanding our operation and opportunities in the US is certainly an ambition of ours and this deal with Golden Nugget is the perfect way to express and showcase that.”
