The multi-year partnership will allow the fantasy and sports betting operator to increase its presence in North Carolina, giving it access to the Hornets’ trademarks and logos, and having DraftKings-branded LED signage courtside and on the basket stanchion at the franchise’s home arena, the Spectrum Center.
Both the franchise and the operator will also collaborate on social media promotions and content that align the two, and the duo plan to develop a free-to-play Hornets-theme predictive game which will be integrated within the team’s mobile app.
In addition, the partnership will feature VIP experiential events at games, including press conference access, courtside shootarounds and meet and greets.
DraftKings chief business officer Ezra Kucharz said: “Charlotte Hornets basketball games are must-watch TV for the NBA, and we look forward to providing Hornets fans with a best-in-class gaming experience.
“We look forward to deepening our business relationship with the Hornets organization through this new agreement and showcasing DraftKings in North Carolina.”
The partnership follows DraftKings becoming the official daily fantasy sports partner, official sports betting partner and online gaming partner of fellow NBA team the Detroit Pistons, announced in November.
While earlier this week, the operator’s sportsbook went live in the newly regulated Virginia market, the 12th such state its sportsbook has now launched in.
