Scientific Games completes rollout of self-service lottery terminals in Iowa

Scientific Games has finalized the launch of its PlayCentral self-service lottery terminals at select Iowa Lottery retailers, which help to streamline inventory management, sales reports and provide data analytics by using SCiQ technology.
“SCiQ is revolutionizing how lottery products are managed at retail by delivering both tactical and strategic analytics. We’ve incorporated all of SCiQ’s benefits within our industry-leading PlayCentral self-service machines,” Scientific Games SVP of Americas Systems Mike Cardell said.
“It’s not only a win-win for the entire retail ecosystem, but for the player experience as well. And we commend the Iowa Lottery for its innovative approach to continually modernize with new technology.”
Scientific Games has partnered with the Iowa Lottery since its inception in 1985, providing the Lottery’s gaming system, retail management system and point-of-sale technology, as well as instant scratch games and licensed brands.

Currently, more than 14,000 PlayCentral terminals are deployed across 13 North American jurisdictions, over 8,000 of which feature SCiQ technology, with additional rollouts both domestically and internationally expected throughout the remainder of 2025.
The Lottery can also use data provided by SCiQ technology to refine game portfolio management, develop targeted promotions and enhance retail distribution strategies for its scratch games.
According to Scientific Games, Iowa Lottery sales surpassed $494m during fiscal year 2023-2024, as proceeds support “vital” state programs that help to make a difference in Iowa.
