New Hampshire reports $78.9m January sports betting handle

The New Hampshire Lottery has published its sports betting results for the month of January. Sports betting statewide generated a $78.9m handle.
Last month’s handle rose by close to $5m year-over-year. However, last month’s total dipped by nearly $2m when compared to results posted in December.
Mobile sports betting accounted for $71.8m of the combined total for the month, while retailers brought in another $7.1m.
New Hampshire saw close to $11.1m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) during the month of January, an increase of nearly $1.3m year-over-year.
Mobile sports wagering yielded a GGR of $10.6m last month. The state’s retail locations earned a GGR of close to $0.5m.
New Hampshire sports betting contributed almost $4.9m in taxes to the state last month.
The state’s total sports betting handle has nearly reached $496.8m during the last seven months.
During the current fiscal year, New Hampshire’s mobile sports betting operations have generated nearly $47.6m in GGR, while its retail sites have brought in more than $3.4m.

Traditional land-based casinos are currently illegal in New Hampshire. However, the state allows its venues to offer players table-based and machine-based games that are connected to local charities.
The current law allows charities statewide to partner with charitable gaming operators, if they do not exceed 10 gaming dates per year.
Since the US Supreme Court overturned the federal ban on sports wagering nearly seven years ago, 38 states along with the District of Columbia have opened legal sports betting markets.
Online gaming is currently legal in seven states, including Pennsylvania, Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and Connecticut.
