Online sports wagering launched in Virginia last week after FanDuel announced it was the first operator to go live in the state.
Customers throughout Virginia are now able to place bets on various markets using the DraftKings digital sportsbook app. The professional sports players can bet on include baseball, football, golf, hockey, soccer, tennis, motorsports and basketball.
Virginia becomes the latest active state for DraftKings, whose sportsbook is live with mobile and/or retail betting operations in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
“Just in time for Super Bowl LV, we are thrilled to bring the DraftKings sports betting experience to Virginia with an abundance of betting options for fans,” said DraftKings co-founder and CEO Jason Robins.
A recent study from DraftKings found that Virginia sports fans are most likely to bet on the National Football League (NFL), followed by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and college football.
The consumer research study also found that the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Football Team are the two most popular NFL teams in the state, with the LA Lakers, Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls the most favoured NBA teams.
