Key points:

- Scientific Games renewed its licensing agreement with Gaming Realms while adding to the Slingo portfolio to include instant scratch, draw, monitor and digital games

- The five-year license renewal will bring Slingo-branded retail and online games to lotteries in Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the US

Scientific Games has renewed its licensing agreement with Gaming Realms for the Slingo brand, continuing the two’s exclusive partnership for an additional five years. The renewal will bring Slingo-branded retail and digital games to lotteries in Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the US.

With the recent licensing renewal, the partnership between Scientific Games and Gaming Realms will have reached over 25 years since its inception.

Slingo originally launched as a combination of slots and bingo on the AOL Games platform in 1996, representing more than $1.9bn in retail sales in the US and Canada since becoming a lottery games platform in 2001.

“We are thrilled to extend our successful collaboration with Gaming Realms, allowing us to continue delivering engaging Slingo lottery experiences,” Scientific Games VP of Licensing Tina Hoover said.

“The Slingo brand is beloved by players and consistently performs as a top-tier lottery game, providing lotteries with a versatile platform that appeals across retail and digital formats. While Slingo is consistently a top five brand in lottery instant scratch products, the brand’s potential in the eInstant products space is unlimited.”

Good to know: Scientific Games announced a new collaboration with the NBA on December 11, which will see NBA-licensed scratch games go live via US lotteries through the supplier

Scientific Games will also be expanding upon the Slingo portfolio to include instant scratch, draw, monitor and digital games, as well as iLottery and second-chance promotion games.

Gaming Realms CEO Mark Segal also spoke on the new licensing renewal, having said, “We're excited to renew our collaboration with Scientific Games, further extending the reach of the Slingo franchise in the lottery market.

“The renewal illustrates the brand equity Slingo commands across multiple verticals in the gaming and lottery space. We're very proud of the licensing partnership with Scientific Games, which with this extension will take our partnership beyond 25 years of working together."
