Culinary Union signs tentative deal with Fontainebleau Las Vegas

The Culinary Union Local 226 and Fontainebleau Las Vegas have reached a tentative agreement regarding contract negotiations, according to a KLAS local news report.
The agreement was reached around 3:30AM, following 18 hours of talks, the local report said.
Prior to its opening last December, Fontainebleau had a neutrality agreement in place with the union. The agreement gave Fontainebleau workers the option to decide whether to join the Culinary Union.
Close to 3,000 Fontainebleau workers will be covered under this deal, the union posted on its X account.
The group described its agreement with Fontainebleau as “the best contract ever that meets LV Strip standards.”
However, Local 226 members continue to strike due to lack of progress in its negotiations with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
More than 700 workers who are represented by both Culinary and Bartenders unions walked off the job last month.

Tension between the union and Virgin Las Vegas has grown due to a failure to negotiate a new contract for union workers.
The current contract between Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and the union expired nearly two years ago. Since then, attempts to negotiate a new contract have not gone smoothly.
In response, the culinary union held a two-day strike in May. More than 700 members of the state’s largest labor union left the job site to pressure the resort to give the green light on a five-year contract regarding benefits and wages.
During the last several months, the Culinary Union has successfully negotiated new contracts with other casino resorts throughout Las Vegas, including MGM, Caesars and Wynn.
