The ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 11 saw a number of speeches paired with a convention center tour.

Key points:

- Fontainebleau Miami Beach has cut the ribbon on its new Coastal Convention Center

- This latest change to the complex comes almost exactly 70 years after its opening

The official ribbon cutting of the Coastal Convention Center at Fontainebleau Miami Beach, which contained a number of speeches and a tour of the complex, took place this week on December 11.

This timely ceremonial occasion comes 10 days prior to the 70th anniversary of the original opening of Fontainebleau Miami Beach resort in 1954. Now, this latest addition to the resort marks the growing requirement for modern hospitality and convention complexes in the Florida South.

Fontainebleau Development Chief Operating Officer Philip Goldfarb, spoke at the grand opening, saying, "Today we officially open the doors of the Coastal Convention Center, making this is a monumental occasion. This celebration combines the connection between our rich legacy, our dedication to excellence, and the vibrant community which we are very proud to be part of.”

“We are honored to have you here today to witness this historic moment and we appreciate the support of our distinguished guests, and our community of leaders and partners who have played a vital role in bringing this vision to life."

Good to know: After hiring a new Chief People Officer in April, Fontainebleau has entered into a legal dispute with Wynn following allegations of alleged ‘poaching’

Regarding the new convention center complex, the Coastal Convention Center building itself contains five floors, spans 45,000 square feet with a 7,000 square foot rooftop area and is located nine miles from Miami International Airport.

Also commenting on the opening of the new convention center, Brittnie Bassant, President and CEO of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, said, "This Coastal Convention Center stands as a testament to the evolution of this amazing city, welcoming business travelers from all over the world to experience best in class design, service, and hospitality, and it is, of course, courtesy of Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

“The economic impact that this center will have will benefit our local businesses, our community, and our entire city. We are thrilled to add the Coastal Convention Center to the landscape of our community. This is the power of partnership and collaboration."
