Pennsylvania Skill issues response to favorable skill game ruling

Pennsylvania Skill, operated by Pace-O-Matic, has issued a statement in response to the Commonwealth Court agreeing that a skill game ban passed by the Philadelphia City Council is unlawful.
The company stated that lifting the ban is a win for Philadelphia small businesses that count on the income received when patrons play Pennsylvania Skill games.
“This ban did nothing more than harm businesses that are already struggling because of the economy,” Pennsylvania Skill said.
“We tried to work with the city council to end illegal games that are a nuisance to Philadelphia. Instead, members took a broad brush and banned legal games as well. This was a slap to small businesses with legal games that follow the law.”
Pace-O-Matic stated that the company would like to see the state legislature pass a skill game regulation and taxation bill that will “create guardrails and allow struggling small businesses in Philadelphia and elsewhere to succeed.”

The bill would hold support from members of the General Assembly, including Philadelphia lawmakers and Governor Josh Shapiro, according to Pace-O-Matic.
The company also said that it is confident the ban will be deemed unlawful when the state Supreme Court challenge is heard, which would end all unlawful skill game bans in Pennsylvania.
