Key points:

- The regulator has worked the last several months to crack down on illegal activity

- More than 8,300 elements of luck and chance have been destroyed to date

Coljuegos' Management of Control of Illegal Operations department has confiscated 60 slot machines in Cartagena that “operated without authorization from the entity in different sectors of the city.”

The Colombian regulator noted that the seized equipment was worth more than P$240m ($54,673).

Coljuegos President Marco Emilio Hincapié said the fight against illegal activity throughout the region “is constant.”

He further commented, “During our administration, we have already surpassed 3,300 items seized, a record number in the history of the state.

“We will continue to confront those who operate unauthorized bets and defraud health resources.”

Good to know: Coljuegos serves Colombia as its regulatory body for games and luck and chance

The organization maintains a philosophy of fostering growth within the industry through sustainable methods. Several notable sites, including Betplay, Rushbet and Codere follow Coljuegos’ regulations.

The Management Against Illegal Operations of Coljuegos recently opened a substantial number of investigations into illegal gambling operations throughout the country.

The regulator has opened 681 administrative sanctioning processes throughout the region that involve raffle, novel, localized and promotional games “that allegedly would be operating without a concession contract and that, therefore, would be ceasing to transfer resources for health.”

Hincapié gave an update on Coljuegos’ progress in finding and destroying technology used for illegal gaming.

He said, "To date, we have completed a total of 8,317 elements of games of luck and chance destroyed, among which are slot machines, internet betting modules, roulettes, bingo tables and chairs, casino tables, among others.

“For all these elements, we calculate that the state stopped receiving more than $250m in the last year."
