Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission hires two new members

The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission has hired two new staff members, according to a Lincoln Journal Star news report.
The Commission promoted a Director of Enforcement and hired an auditor, Executive Director Casey Ricketts told local news.
Ricketts commented, “This is a position that we’ve actually actively been trying to recruit for about a year and a half, and finally did hire one.”
Ari Saltzman will serve as the regulator’s auditor, while Drew Behn moves up to take the role of Director of Enforcement.
Ricketts previously shared with local news in October that Anderson was no longer serving in this role “for reasons unrelated to the audit investigation.” Until now, Behn served as an interim for the position.
The regulator also noted that these new members will be tasked with “addressing issues identified in an October audit criticizing the commission,” specially with the commission’s “oversight of casinos and the former Director of Enforcement’s use of a state-owned vehicle.”

Until this summer, the state regulator had one person handling financial matters but decided to expand its staff “for the review and documentation process.”
In the commission’s latest report, it was not able to provide documentation showing that quarterly reports were finished. The reported also noted that the commission “could not remember when an annual report was completed.”
However, Ricketts said last month that a report was filed.
The audit also referenced claims Anderson’s state-owned vehicle was used for personal trips to Walmart and pawn shops, without providing proper documentation, the local report said.
