PointsBet has signed a multi-year partnership with National Hockey League (NHL) franchise the Detroit Red Wings, as the operator expands its presence in Michigan.

The offical gaming partnership will see the Sports & Social sports bar at the franchise’s Little Caesars Arena rebranded as the PointsBet Sports Bar, which is expected to be operational later in 2021, and will offer a full food and drinks menu, HD televisions, live betting odds and special guests.

The deal between the operator and the NHL team will also feature LED PointsBet signage and branding around the arena during Red Wings home games, while the operator will have a sponsored presence on the franchise’s digital platforms.

The sponsored presence will include being integrated into the District Detroit mobile app and The Word on Woodward, a live streaming show that airs on the channels of the Red Wings and Major League Baseball (MLB) team Detroit Tigers.

PointsBet was named the official gaming partner of the Tigers last July, while last week, it announced a partnership with National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise the Detroit Pistons, with the latest deal further expanding its presence in Michigan and expects to release its sports wagering app in the state in the coming months pending regulatory approval.

PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken said: "We now have the unique opportunity to work closely across both the Red Wings and Tigers, and we look forward to leveraging our competitive advantage of owning our technology environment from end to end to implement engaging product innovation and personalized offerings to complement our app's market-leading speed.”
