Wind Creek Chicago Southland has announced that it will open to the public on November 11, marking the first phase of a full-scale casino resort experience that will be completed in the spring of 2025.

On November 6-7, the Illinois Gaming Board visited the casino for two mandatory test days in order to receive approval for launch of the 70,000 sq ft property. The facility is said to create more than 1,000 full-time jobs in the area and include over 1,400 slot machines, 56 table games, a sportsbook and two high-limit playing areas.

“The opening of Wind Creek Chicago Southland underscores our dedication to making a positive economic impact in the communities we serve,” Wind Creek Hospitality President and CEO Jay Dorris said.

“We're committed to create opportunities that support the region, offer competitive benefits for team members and further strengthen the vibrant Southland community.”

Wind Creek Hospitality is an authority of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, the only federally recognized Indian Tribe in the state of Alabama. The company currently manages the Tribe’s gaming facilities and racetracks which include properties in Alabama, Illinois and Florida.

“Wind Creek Chicago Southland is more than a casino, it’s a community-driven destination,” Poarch Band of Creek Indians Tribal Chair and CEO Stephanie Bryan said.

“The Tribe and Wind Creek will continue to prioritize the Villages of Homewood and East Hazel Crest as we are committed to uplifting our neighbors.”

Wind Creek Chicago Southland’s EVP and GM Roger Kuehn spoke on the motivation felt to develop the property, having said, “From the start, our mission has been to create jobs, spur economic growth and offer the ultimate entertainment escape.

“We're thrilled to welcome our guests on Nov. 11th to experience the excitement firsthand.”

Doors will be opened to the public at 11am local time on November 11 after receiving notice of approval on November 8 from the state’s Gaming Board.
