Pennsylvania gaming yields $505.8m in September revenue, $811.2m sports betting handle

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has released its gaming results for the month of September. The state generated more than $505.8m in revenue from all forms of statewide legal gambling, as well as from fantasy contests.
Last month’s revenue reflected a year-over-year increase of nearly 6.2%.
For September, the largest revenue contribution came from Pennsylvania’s retail slot games, which yielded nearly $197m in revenue.
However, the total reflected a nearly 1.5% drop year-over-year.
Statewide sports betting reported a total handle of $811.2m.
Total iGaming revenue reached $176.7m, while retail table games and sports betting brought in $73.4m and $53.5m in revenue respectively.
But last month’s iGaming slot revenue rose by more than 15% when compared to September 2023’s total. Revenue from iGaming slots last month reached $132m.

When it came to total earnings by casino, Valley Forge Casino Resort grabbed the top spot for the largest yielded revenue last month, which reached $85.6m. Last month’s revenue at Valley Forge grew by more than 29.5% when compared to its results from one year ago.
Other heavy hitters during September included Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and Parx Casino, which reported revenue totals of $82.5m and $52.2m respectively.
Parx Casino emerged as the highest earner in slot revenue last month, taking in $30.2m. Wind Creek Bethlehem and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh took the number two and three spots. Wind Creek generated $24.2m in slot revenue, while Rivers Casino Pittsburgh brought in $20.7m.
Wind Creek Bethlehem reported the highest table games revenue during the month, which reached nearly $18m.
The state collected nearly $211.2m in taxes during the month of September.
