Operator has used TwinSpires brand for horse wagering since 2007

Churchill Downs Incorporated on Tuesday said it will use a single brand for its online wagering segment by rebranding its online sportsbook and gaming platform from BetAmerica to TwinSpires.

The Louisville, Kentucky-based company has used the TwinSpires brand for its online pari-mutuel wagering business since 2007. CDI said horse bettors will continued to see the same technology platform they are used to going forward.

For online sports betting and gaming at BetAmerica/TwinSpires, the company said players will see a new technology platform powered by GAN Limited and Kambi Group PLC.

The transition from BetAmerica to TwinSpires will begin in Michigan later this month, pending final regulatory approval.

The company noted its BetAmerica retail and online sportsbooks operating in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey and Pennsylvania will transition to the TwinSpires brand during the first half of 2021.

“Our TwinSpires brand has consistently delivered over 13 years and is associated with more than a century of wagering experience. That history and heritage offers a unique point of difference in a competitive space,” Bill Mudd, President and Chief Operating Officer of CDI, said in a statement.

Mudd said the company “remains focused” on building a profitable sports betting and online gaming business that provides its customers an integrated experience alongside its horse racing wagering platform.

“The transition to TwinSpires not only generates marketing efficiencies, it allows us to deliver a more complete overall experience to our growing online wagering customer base,” he added.
