New York sports wagering GGR rises 29% for June

Figures grew year-over-year, but took a big drop compared to May.
The New York Gaming Commission has published the state’s mobile sports wagering report for June, showing significant growth over the last year.
Mobile sports wagering handle for the month reached $1.47bn, an increase of 26.3% year-over-year, though it was a decrease from May’s $1.97bn handle. June’s handle is also the lowest total since August 2023’s $1.11bn figure.
In terms of mobile sports wagering gross gaming revenue (GGR), June’s number of $133.9m was 29% larger than that of the same period last year.
Again, however, this was a big drop from May’s very strong numbers, when GGR was set at $203.3m. Yet the lowest month for GGR so far in 2024 in New York was in fact in February when it was $131.4m.
Looking at the fiscal year, New York is well on course in this current 2024/25 period to surpass last year’s totals for both handle which is $5.41bn and GGR, which is $521.1m after the first three months of the current period.
On an individual basis, FanDuel’s GGR reached $67.1m in June, which was equivalent to about 50% of the total for the state. Some of the other big operators included DraftKings’ GGR being $40.9m, while Caesars was $8.6m.
In other state news, the New York Racing Association (NYRA) has announced that due to a contractual impasse between itself and FanDuel sportsbook, as well as the TVG network, all NYRA content will be eliminated from TVG channels and FanDuel wagering platforms.
