Vermont Department of Mental Health debuts problem gambling resources website

The state estimates more than 11,000 residents currently struggle with problem gambling.
The Vermont Department of Mental Health (DMH) has launched a new website that is designed to offer support and help to both individuals and families that are affected by problem gambling.
The new web domain, VTGamblingHelp.org, will offer players around the state online resources. The DMH said the program “serves as a valuable resource for those seeking immediate assistance and support for problems related to gambling, as well as those looking to promote healthy and responsible gaming behaviors.”
DMH Responsible Gaming Program Coordinator Elliott McElroy further discussed the potential benefits for Vermont residents by saying, “Problem gambling can deeply affect mental health, finances and family dynamics.
“This website offers a space for individuals to find the resources and care they need to navigate problem gambling behavior or learn about gaming responsibly.”
Residents statewide can access several services through this new domain. These include a 24/7 helpline, live chat feature, access to various treatment options, a voluntary self-exclusion program and a list of tools and resources to evaluate and identify potentially problematic gambling behaviors.
DMH Medical Director Dr. Kelley Klein explained the importance of having easy access to problem gambling assistance resources.
He said in closing, “As millions of Americans grapple with gambling addiction and millions more face the risk, these services are vital in promoting responsible gaming practices within our communities and providing support to individuals affected by problem gambling and gambling addiction.
“We are thrilled to have launched this site and optimistic about the resources it will provide to Vermonters.”
