Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia fined by PA Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has issued a $100,000 fine to Stadium Casino RE LLC, the operator of Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia.
The PGCB took this action after it approved a consent agreement presented by the Board’s Office of Enforcement Counsel during its public meeting, owing to the casino taking and placing sports wagers by phone.
Several members of staff of the casino had accepted and placed 15 wagers amounting to a total of $287,421 over an eight-day period for a patron who was not even present in the casino.
These wagers are known as “proxy wagers,” which are not allowed through policies established by the casino and approved by the Board.
On top of this, the Pennsylvania Gaming Act prohibits knowingly accepting a wager from any person other than the person making that wager.
As a result, three of Live! Casino sportsbook employees who were involved in accepting and placing the wagers were terminated from their jobs and the PGCB revoked the gaming employment license of each, while the patron was placed on the Board’s Involuntary Exclusion list and is no longer allowed to gamble in the state.
The PGCB also reported that it took action to deny the removal of two individuals previously placed on the Involuntary Exclusion List for incidents involving minors being left unattended in a vehicle while they gambled in a casino in 2019 and 2022.
Last month, the PGCB also issued $125,000 in fines against Wind Creek Bethlehem for 10 incidents involving 11 individuals between the ages of 18 and 20.
