Betsson gains green light to operate in Peru
The operator can now offer players access to its Betsson and Betsafe brands.
Betsson has gained a local license to operate in Peru’s regulated gambling market. The approval is for sports betting and for online casino operations for the company’s Betsson and Betsafe brands.
However, the recent approval does not mark the beginning of Betsson’s journey in Peru. The company set its gaze on the LatAm market in 2008 and has grown throughout the region since launching the Betsafe brand in 2019.
During 2021, the company acquired Peruvian-facing sports betting and online casino business, Inkabet. The company went on to add that licensing for its Inkabet brand is “expected to be obtained soon.”
Earlier this year, Betsson partnered with Peruvian football star Paolo Guerrero to “further strengthen Betsson’s presence in Latin America and solidifying Betsson as the most exciting brand in the industry.”
Guerrero is the company’s global casino ambassador, under the terms of the deal.
Betsson described gaining licensing in Peru as a milestone for the company.
President and CEO Pontus Lindwall said that Betsson AB is excited to gain licensing and looks forward to extending its LatAm footprint.
He commented, “We have really looked forward to Peru introducing a local regulation and are very pleased with the issuing of these licenses.
“With this announcement, we affirm our commitment to the local economy and the new regulatory framework in the country.”
The company is currently licensed in two other Latin American markets. The group is authorized to operate in Colombia and holds licenses in Buenos Aires City, Buenos Aires province and in Córdoba, Argentina.
