In the last few days, Rio Grande do Sul has seen unparalleled rainfall that has flooded streets and isolated towns, creating a dire situation for residents. In an effort to assist in ongoing flood relief, Meridianbet has announced its active involvement in the global coalition initiative to help Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Hundreds of people are still unaccounted for in the area and more than 200,000 residents have had to be evacuated by either boat or helicopter. The floods have also made an impact on infrastructure, as several bridges were destroyed, disrupting access to Porto Alegre.
Meridianbet, a subsidiary of Golden Matrix Group, is leading the initiative as part of the gaming industry's larger collaboration with local NGOs and humanitarian organizations. Meridianbet’s CSR portfolio includes over 225 community impact campaigns conducted last year alone.
The company is an online sports betting and gaming group, licensed and currently operating in 20 jurisdictions across Europe, Africa and South America. It also provides B2B and B2C offerings, deploying proprietary technology and operating globally across 17 regulated markets.
Meridianbet and Golden Matrix released a statement, commenting, “Golden Matrix and Meridianbet are dedicated to supporting our communities through thick and thin. This partnership in Rio Grande do Sul is just one of the many initiatives we are proud to lead.”
Meridianbet invites stakeholders and the global community to contribute to the ongoing relief efforts. The donations will directly support the families, schools and shelters hardest hit by the flooding, making a difference in their recovery.
