The sports betting provider is now a named sponsor on the team's shirt.

Brazilian football club Vasco da Gama has announced the largest sponsorship agreement in the club's history with Betfair, making the sports betting organization its lead sponsor.

Valid until the end of 2025, the agreement has a two-season extension clause and sees Betfair’s logo displayed as a sponsor on the team’s shirt.

Soccer is a huge deal in Brazil and the Rio de Janeiro-based club has over 20 million fans across the nation. Furthermore, the club has a history of winning regional trophies such as the Brazilian Championship and Copa do Brasil – as well as producing players like Romário, Carlos Germano and Phillipe Coutinho – among others.

Vasco CEO, Lúcio Barbosa, commented on the partnership, saying, “It is an honor and an achievement to close this partnership, the largest in Vasco’s history, with Betfair. It was weeks of intense work to get the best for our club with a huge and consolidated company. We still have challenges ahead but our commitment to work hard and hard for Vasco continues.”

In January of last year, Betfair entered a sponsorship deal with another Brazilian soccer team in Cruzeiro – and will likely hope that this latest collaboration will further enhance brand awareness in the nation.

Kimberly Daly, MD of Betfair International, said, “The partnership between Vasco and Betfair is not only a master sponsorship on the team’s shirt, it is also a strategic collaboration based on shared values, excellence and passion for football, respecting the greatness of its history, but also strengthening investment in the project within the Rio de Janeiro team to help develop the present and future of the club.”
