The Ministry of Finance in Brazil has confirmed its first Secretary to head the Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA).
Regis Dudena was confirmed as taking up this new position within Brazil’s gambling regulator, in an ordinance published in the Official Gazette of the Union and signed by the Minster of the Civil House, Rui Costa.
Dudena brings with him experience in law, currently specializing in Public and Regulatory Law, and has been a partner in a law firm within the area of Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy.
Past roles have also included being the legal superintendent of Desenvolvimento São Paulo, legal advisor to the presidency of the Development Bank of Minas Gerais, and the legal manager of the National Association of Railway Transporters; while Dudena was also a special advisor to the Executive Secretariat and assistant deputy head for Legal Affairs within the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic.
Dudena joins as Brazil looks to put the finishing touches to its regulatory framework for betting in the country, which is set to be done in four phases, finishing in July. This news also comes shortly after it was announced that free bets and bonuses would be outlawed in the country.
