For the May edition of Trafficology, we spoke with Atlas World Sports Founder and CEO Robert Kraft, following his appearance on the Huddle. Check that video out for more on the developing US sports betting market and the impact Europe has had on its development.
Below, meanwhile, is a sneak preview of our upcoming Trafficology interview...
How do you balance technological innovation while also keeping your platform accessible to everyone?
That's a question you can never answer perfectly because it's a constant evolution. Certainly, the European regulatory framework is different than the US and, actually, I think it's good. We're typically not in love with certain regulatory frameworks. I think that's just human beings in general. If you like it, you like it, if you don’t then it's like, “Oh, the governments are reaching!’ But we really think the regulations are very important because we need to prevent bad behavior.
I think that’s one of the things we can add to over time, because we have bet syncing with all the books, we can see patterns, so we're going to be able to develop an algorithm. We're already in the process. But it will probably be launched later this year, and the next year that'll be layered on top and we'll see patterns evolving. So, if somebody's doing great with MGM but they're getting smoked on Caesars, MGM doesn't know that nor does Caesars. We can help as a central nervous system. I think we can be a really good partner to the industry at large.
Helping the problem gambler or some of those other categories will be really important. I think that will be an emerging niche within our industry over the next five years, certainly in the US. I know it's bigger in Europe already because of the distance. That's a good thing, overall, but it can be challenging at times.
