Prediction Market Companies Continue To Partner With Pro Sports Teams
The rise of prediction market companies has led to several significant partnerships with professional sports teams.
Prediction Market Companies: Deals with Teams
Earlier this week, Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. announced a partnership with Polymarket to be the Official Prediction Market Partner of the New York Rangers.
The NHL has embraced the predictions market, as evidenced by its partnerships with Polymarket and Kalshi.
Last month, Kalshi and the Chicago Blackhawks announced a historic partnership. The Blackhawks became the first NHL organization and the first North American pro sports team to partner with a prediction-market platform.
Think of prediction markets like stock markets. People can bet money on future event outcomes in sports, politics, economics, and entertainment through event-based contracts. The most common prediction market is a binary option — yes or no.
Popular sportsbooks, including DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics, all launched prediction markets last year.
Many non-sportsbooks that have partnered with teams have recently launched prediction markets on their respective platforms.
Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange platform, is an NBA sponsor and has partnerships with the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers. Coinbase partnered with Kalshi to begin prediction markets.
Crypto.com is the Los Angeles arena sponsor for the home of the Lakers, Kings, and Sparks. Crypto.com is also the jersey sponsor of the Philadelphia 76ers. In late 2024, Crypto.com began offering sports event contracts.
Robinhood, a financial services trading platform, sponsors the Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and Washington Wizards. In 2025, Robinhood instituted sports event contracts a year after it entered the political predictions market.
PrizePicks, best known for daily fantasy sports, has partnerships with the Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants. PrizePicks is also the official partner of State Farm Arena, where the Atlanta Hawks play NBA games.
A few months ago, PrizePicks rolled out its prediction market with sports event contracts.
What about Sleeper and Underdog?
Underdog is a daily fantasy sports app legal in over 40 states. Underdog had deals in place with the St. Louis Blues and the Kansas City Royals before exiting sports betting in Missouri. The plan is to focus on the prediction market.
Underdgo has been working with Crypto.com to offer various prediction markets.
Meanwhile, Sleeper is attempting to enter the prediction markets business.
The prediction markets space has raised questions about insider trading and regulatory procedures.
There is no slowing down the prediction markets business, so expect more deals to be announced with professional sports teams in the coming months.
