The Global Gaming Awards: Looking ahead to 2024's ceremonies.

May 24, 2024

After more than a decade of celebrating gaming's best, Gaming America looks ahead to a bright 2024 for the Global Gaming Awards in the Americas and Asia-Pacific.

Over the past 10 years, the Global Gaming Awards has built a reputation of being a can’t-miss event for gaming’s biggest suppliers and operators. The sector’s most notable figures come out every year in anticipation of bringing home the most prestigious Awards in the industry. Categories such as Digital Product of the year, Land-Based Operator of the year and more will reward the very best of what the industry has to offer in 2024.

With all self-nominations having been collected and the deadline passed, the Shortlist for the Americas Awards will be finalized by August 1, taking into account company success and distinct achievements from the past 12 months. The Global Gaming Awards Americas will once again take place October 7 in Las Vegas, with the Asia-Pacific Awards held on 4 June.

A brief history

The first ever Global Gaming Awards took place in Las Vegas in 2014, before expanding to the EMEA (in London) four years later in 2018. In 2022, the Global Gaming Awards Asia-Pacific were launched.

With over a decade of history now, the Awards have garnered the respect of industry powerhouses due to strict voting rules and procedures, ensuring fairness and equality among all nominees. Each ceremony is specific to the territory in which they are held, so across the globe the Awards celebrate which companies beat expectations and raised the bar in their respective regions.

Global Gaming Awards Event Manager Mariya Savova says, “There was a time when companies from the different regions were competing at the one event we had; however, the industry is so different in the Americas, EMEA and APAC, so it made sense to have three events dedicated to each of those regions.

That gives us the opportunity to tailor the categories of the Global Gaming Awards for each respective region. “For instance, at our Asia-Pacific event, we have the Integrated Resort of the Year category – something we can’t have at our EMEA event as there is just one IR in Europe.

At our Americas event, we have the Customer Loyalty Program of the year category, which is unique just to that event and introduced as a result of the emphasis operators across North America put on building an attractive and powerful incentives program for customers.”

How voting works

Companies nominated for any Global Gaming Awards are always selected based upon merit and the reason for nomination is made public in the official Shortlist magazine

. A panel of over 100 C-level executives from the industry decides the winners, with KPMG in the Crown Dependencies independently adjudicating the voting process to ensure full transparency and fairness.

The full Americas Shortlist will be revealed on September 2, while voting will commence September 9. The Judging Panel will be asked to cast their votes for a winner and a runner-up across all categories.

Judges will be excluded from voting in categories where they have a conflict of interest. Nominees will then gather at a luncheon to see who triumphs in each category for continued success and achievement over the past year.

In the near future…

Before the Global Gaming Awards Americas are presented in October, however, taking place June 4 in Manila are the Global Gaming Awards Asia-Pacific. This ceremony will recognize and reward the strongest performers from Asian gaming across the previous 12 months.

With many of the US' biggest operators also based in Macau, such as MGM, Wynn, and Sands, coming to the Asia-Pacific to celebrate a growing industry – for the first-ever in-person ceremony – was always part of the plan.

Having only debuted in the last two years, the Global Gaming Awards Asia-Pacific have already grown to become one of the most recognizable shows for all competitors in the Asia-Pacific region. As executives and leaders of these companies continue to see the success of the Awards in the US, it creates a sense of urgency to be recognized in all aspects of their business.

With the Shortlist finalized and voting commenced, companies will gather to see which of the nominations are celebrated in Manila this year. Savova believes this year could be one of the closest contests yet for many different Awards categories.

Savova comments, “With Macau returning to form post-pandemic, Singapore continuing to break records and the Philippines emerging as one of the fastest-growing and attractive markets in the region, the competition for the 2024 Global Gaming Awards Asia-Pacific is fierce across both operator and supplier categories.

Our entire team is excited to finally celebrate with APAC’s strongest performers in-person on June 4. This event will be a huge milestone for our company.” The winners included in the Global Gaming Awards Asia-Pacific will be announced at an afternoon ceremony where many of the nominees will be in attendance.

What’s coming to Las Vegas

The Global Gaming Awards Americas will take place at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas and gather the industry’s elite to celebrate the success of the past year. Particularly competitive will be the Land-Based Operator of the year category, which rewards the company that goes above and beyond to create the best possible customer experience, while Digital Operator of the year recognizes who has driven the rapidly evolving online gaming industry to new heights.

The award for North American Property of the Year celebrates which estate pushed the boundaries of customer experience in the land-based sector, with Circa seeing success here in recent years. These Awards represent the very best of what American gaming has to offer and any company nominated showcases the highest tier of business in each respective category.

As Savova explains, “The gaming industry in North America leads the way. Some of the biggest companies in the industry are based there, the land-based sector continues to push the boundaries of exceptional customer experience and innovation, while the digital sector in the US is undoubtedly what everyone talks about, even in Europe.

“That being said, it gets harder and harder every year to pick just 10 companies to be shortlisted in each category for the Global Gaming Awards Americas. There are so many companies that 100% deserve recognition but sadly we cannot   shortlist everyone.

Nevertheless, we try our best to recognize the best of the best, which is why all companies are shortlisted as a result of their achievements in the Americas over the past 12 months.”

In 2023, companies such as Aristocrat, Wynn Resorts, FanDuel, MGM Resorts and Circa all left as winners from the Bellini Ballroom in the Venetian. It remains to be seen which operators and suppliers the standouts of 2024 will, but with anticipation building for both the Global Gaming Awards Americas and Asia-Pacific, Gaming America and Gambling Insider are once again proud to power the industry’s most prestigious Awards.
