The state is scheduled to open for regulated sports betting on January 1.

Sportradar has been granted a gaming supplier license by the Ohio Casino Control Commission. The green light to operate in Ohio brings the company’s licensing total to 41.

Sportradar is a global sports technology company that services sports betting operators, sports federations, news media and consumer platforms. The company’s reach extends throughout North America, including several US states, as well as territory in Canada.

The company provides its services “to a wide range of clients operating within these jurisdictions, advancing transparency and integrity, and delivering accurate sports data to sanctioned sports betting and gaming agencies.”

Its Sportradar Integrity Services subsidiary supplies sports integrity solutions to more than 150 sports federations, leagues, law enforcement and state authorities.

Sports betting in Ohio will launch January 1, 2023. State lawmakers passed House Bill 29 toward the end of 2021, setting statewide legalized sports betting in motion.

In anticipation of the launch, Ohio for Responsible Gambling recently encouraged state residents to take advantage of educational resources about responsible gambling. The organization highlighted risks factors associated with problem gambling during National Suicide Prevention Month.

Ohio for Responsible Gambling also recently released a summary report regarding state gambling and its effect on families and local businesses.

One finding showed that the number of calls to Ohio's Problem Gambling Helpline has risen for the fifth year in a row. This reflects a growing concern from both citizens and local experts.

There is, however, a silver lining. Problem Gambling Network of Ohio Executive Director Derek Longmeier said that the Buckeye State has made significant strides to raise awareness and promote responsible gambling through education and evidence-based programs the state introduced last year.

So far, the programs have been successful.
