The company plans to enhance its product offering in the province.

Penn National Gaming has announced that its subsidiary, Score Digital Sports Ventures (theScore Bet), has launched a proprietary risk and trading platform in Ontario. This platform is integral to theScore Bet’s strategy of bringing its sportsbook technology in-house.

theScore Bet now operates on a custom-built vertically integrated technology stack with all components, which includes a risk and trading platform, player account management system, and promotion engine.

Penn National Gaming will migrate its risk and trading platform to enhance the theScore Bet mobile product offering in Ontario. This will lead to increased in-game wagering options, event props and an expanded library of markets. The vertical stacking should translate to greater personalization and media and betting integration capabilities.

Penn National Gaming CEO and President Jay Snowden commented: “This vertically integrated platform will increase our ability to engage and retain customers, drive more flexible pricing, provide valuable savings on third-party platform costs and allow us to deliver the most personalized product experience in the market.”

Snowden is delighted to move theScore Bet’s brand into the lucrative Ontario market. Its Barstool Sportsbook is available in multiple US states, including Virginia, Colorado and New Jersey. The theScore Bet technology will serve as the backend tech for the Barstool Sportsbook product in the US.

Snowden says: “We’re thrilled to have this technology deployed in Ontario and are diligently working toward migrating the Barstool Sportsbook in the US to the platform in Q3 2023, after which we will begin to realize the full benefits of our in-house, custom-designed technology.”

The company is keen to underline how forward-thinking its mobile product will be. theScore Bet CEO John Levy says: “Operating on a system where all components are custom built to work together maximizes our speed and efficiency and supercharges our ability to seamlessly roll out new features, wagering options and innovations.

“We are extremely excited to introduce this enhanced product to Ontario bettors well ahead of the busy fall season.”
